Pregnancy

pregnancyOsteopathic treatment during pregnancy is a gentle and safe method of enabling the body to cope with the numerous changes it is going through.

Treatment varies depending upon the individual and the discomfort experienced but there are a number of gentle techniques which can be used by the osteopath to ease discomfort in supporting muscles and ligaments, improve posture and use the body correctly throughout the pregnancy. An osteopath can also advise on labour positions to prevent the risk of back injury and suggest pain relief techniques which may be used during delivery.

Each pregnancy is different, however pain and discomfort in the:

lower back
legs
neck and shoulders
indigestion
post-natal pelvic problems

will respond well to osteopathic treatment.

Some patients have also reported reduced incidences of morning sickness after osteopathic treatment.
