What is muscular pain?
Pain is not a specific medical condition but the term used to describe symptoms of pain and inflammation in joints, muscles and connective (soft) tissue. As well as pain and swelling the sufferer may also experience stiffness of joints and limited movement in the affected limb or joint.
Although muscular pain and joints pain can affect any part of the body it most commonly affects knee, hip, back and neck joints. There are many reasons and risk factors in developing chronic pain including pain associated arthritis, diabetes and fibromyalgia. Chronic pain can be associated with tendon pain such as achilles, gluteal hip pain tennis elbow so there are many reasons for muscular sketetal pain
Is Osteopathy Effective In Treating Muscular Joint pain such as shoulder, knee or hip pain?
Although osteopathy cannot cure rheumatism, the emphasis on the role of the musculoskeletal system in maintaining well-being means that osteopathy is helpful in helping ease rheumatism such as joint pain, lack of mobility and stiffness as well as swelling and inflammation. Gentle exercises and pain management techniques may also form part of the treatment enabling the patient to manage their rheumatic symptoms away from the clinic.
Osteopathic Treatments Used in Treating Muscular Pain
Although the type of osteopathic treatment used is dependent upon the needs of the individual and their symptoms, treatment of rheumatism may use a variety of osteopathic techniques; ranging from traditional osteopathy and cranial osteopathy to more modern osteopathic treatments such as Exercise Rehabilitation, and general mobilisation. all of which are designed to correct and realign the mechanical structure and to enable the body to stimulate it’s own healing processes.
Very Effective Treatment at a Very Reasonable Cost
I have been going to Helen for over 18 months now and have been delighted with the results. Over the years I have had various forms of treatment from different private health care therapists. These treatments have been expensive, with extremely short appointments and in the long term were ineffective. Helen’s treatments by contrast are half an hour or an hour long and have been extremely effective.
The combination of traditional osteopathic manipulation and massage techniques that Helen uses alongside use of her flexomatic massage machine and the electrotherapy has been a great combination for me. Overall I’m delighted I found Helen…not only is she a great osteopath but she is also always very kind and welcoming.
